BLACKOUT — Facebook has banned white nationalist site The Daily Stormer , saying its members violated its terms of service.
“While we do not support or endorse any violence, the content violates our Community Standards and it has been removed,” the company wrote in a statement.
The Daily Stormers posts are offensive and do not reflect the views of the site’s many contributors.
In a video posted on Facebook on Thursday, the Daily Storms founders said they would not be returning to the platform until it “clears up” its behavior.
But they also added they would continue to operate.
For more than two years, the site has been an online platform for white supremacists and anti-Semites, and its presence on the site and on social media has stoked racial tensions in the United States.
Facebook has banned the Daily Noles from its platform in several instances, but it has not done so in a blanket fashion.
Last week, Facebook announced it was removing all Nazi and neo-Nazi content from its site, including content about a “White Nationalist rally” in Virginia.
