A University of Florida student has said “rape culture” contributed to the death of a freshman who was found hanging in his dorm room.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement said Monday that the death occurred at a University of South Florida campus residence on Jan. 10, but that it was still not clear how it happened.
The death of 22-year-old David H. Brown, a student at the university, sparked a nationwide debate on campus about sexual violence on college campuses.
The school said in a statement Monday that Brown died after “multiple stab wounds” were found to his neck, chest and abdomen.
A medical examiner has not ruled out suicide.
