TIPS FOR CROWDFUNDERS COVERED IN THIS INTERVIEW…
The interview has some really good tips that we explore in detail. Here we just write some basic notes to give you a taste. Check out the interview.
Tip 1 Learn from your previous crowdfunding campaign.
Building a following before launching the campaign is really crucial. Build your list, interact with them, so they’ve get a chance to know you before you start the campaign. The stronger the relationship you have with your followers before the campaign is launched the more you will gain in two critical areas.
- More people will be willing to back you out of the gate during your first few days
- You will have more people sharing your story
As a result, your campaign gains a chance to get the earlier support from the crowd that you built.
In this case, Manuel and his team built on the the list from their first campaign on Kickstarter. They continued to engage their existing followers while reaching out and building new ones.
Tip 2 Using feedback during the design process
Manuel and his team really value feedback from customers and followers. CMYK 4.0 is the result of incorporating all of that feedback, and finding the most critical improvements that they could make. In the interview we go into detail about several of the key improvements in CMYK 4.0 electric folding bike which are new to what has come before.
Tip 3 Gain international backers by solving the shipping problem
Learn to re-adjust the shipping cost so backers will back you more. Especially when your product is big or heavy. In this case, Manuel got a lot of people sign up, but not so many people want to back CMYK 4.0 just because the shipping price is so high. So he figured out the way to negotiate with shipping company to lower the shipping price. Thus, they got more backers!
